If you sometimes wish you were born with a different eye shape because you think yours look too secretive and mysterious, read on. The key to bringing hooded eyes into focus is simply to add light and a little bit of a lift. It's possible to make your eyes stand out in all the right ways. You're in for a treat. Makeup can give you an eye lift without the painful surgery.
Instructions
- 1 Smooth foundation evenly on clean eyelids. Follow with an eye makeup primer for color that lasts. Pat concealer a notch or two lighter than your skin tone underneath eyes to camouflage dark circles. This alone helps open up eyes. Dust translucent powder under your eye area to ensure your concealer stays in place.
- 2 Make sure eyebrows are groomed and shaped to frame your eyes and face. Define brows by filling them in with an eyebrow pencil or powder. This eliminates any sparse patches between hairs as well.

Apply a light eye shadow from lash line to crease. Avoid metallic and frosty finishes as these tend to fill in the lines on the eye. On the outer corners of eyes, stipple on a mid tone version of your first color. You want to stay away from too-dark colors because these drag your eyes down. Press on the mid tone color with a flat headed eye shadow brush in a sideways V shape. Blend inwards over crease area. Move slightly outwards and upwards at the edges for a subtle lift.
Bring more light to eyes by dabbing a flesh tone highlighter on the inner corners of eyes. Pat away any evident lines. Gently run a white eye pencil along inner rims of your lower lash lines.
Define eyes by working a creamy highly pigmented black pencil into lash lines. Go in between lashes. You don't want an obvious or thick line. You want just enough product to bring out the shape of your eyes. Curl eyelashes to further open eyes. Use mascara on top lashes only, making sure your application is clump-free and light. Two coats are sufficient.
